Christmas Gift Guide | For Her

Love, Catherine | Christmas Gift Guide

I think I'm a bit late on parade this year with my Christmas Gift Guide, even though it's not even December yet, but don't fear as I actually have not one but three coming your way! For this one I've compiled together a bunch of beautiful products I personally own, that would be perfect for any girly girl to receive!

Love, Catherine | Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick, Kim K.W
Charlotte Tilbury |  Lipstick

When you think of luxury makeup with beautiful, gift worthy packaging, who comes to mind instantly? Charlotte Tilbury, no brainer! Her rose gold lipsticks with the classic, vintage style tube, are so stunning and make for a really special gift. The lipsticks themselves have a beautiful, long wearing but comfortable formula, and the shade I've got here is the ever popular  Kim K.W, a gorgeous nude (full review  here!) I've also got my eye on  Liv It Up, which looks like the prettiest, soft, rosey pink shade!

Charbonnel et Walker |  Truffles

The one thing that the majority of women (or anyone for that matter) have in common is a love for chocolate! If you want to give a little extra than the standard gold chocolate coins, then Charbonnel et Walker is the way to go. They have an array of amazing truffles packaged in gorgeous, luxe boxes. I love the  Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles which you can also get in a cute  heart shaped box if you're all about presentation (you can't fail with heart shaped things though c'mon). But I'm also desperate to try the  Sea Salt Caramel Truffles which just sound incredible.

Love, Catherine | Pretty You London, Perdita Pink Slippers
Pretty You London |  Slippers*

I had to include a pair of cosy slippers, because it seems to be a rule of Christmas gift buying to receive either socks or slippers each year, and I'm so not complaining! I've fallen in love with the brand Pretty You London since receiving the beautiful  Olivia White pair back in Spring. They are so pretty but so comfortable at the same time and I've had loads of wear out of them. This  Perdita Pink pair are so cute with the little moon and star applique and they've got the softest, fleecy lining! They have chase your dreams delicately written across the front and even have cute little pom poms on the back! Adorable.

Love, Catherine | Anastasia Beverly Hills, Modern Renaissance Palette
Anastasia Beverly Hills |  Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

One for the beauty lover, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette contains 14 beautiful eyeshadows ranging from soft neutrals to deep berries. Why this palette over the rest? Because the quality is flippin' incredible. The shadows are so buttery soft, intensely pigmented and blend out immaculately. As it's super pricey at £41, it can be quite a do I don't I purchase for someone splurging on themselves, which is why it would make for such a great gift to receive. (Full review  here.)

Whilst we're also on the subject of eyeshadow palettes, you also can't go wrong with any that Too Faced offer, which you probably guessed was coming! My favourite is the  Chocolate Bon Bons, a deliciously scented palette with beautiful shades ranging from pinks to mauves to chocolatey browns and it's my most worn palette of 2016, (oh look another plug.. full review  here.) Their  Natural Eyes palette is also a classic, with nine perfect neutral tones that every girl needs in her collection.

Love, Catherine | Valentino Donna, Perfume
Valentino |  Donna Perfume*

This Valentino perfume was top of my wishlist last year! I adore the weighty, quilted glass bottle which looks so elegant and luxe with the blush pink fragrance inside. It has the loveliest, powdery rose and vanilla scent which is floral yet sultry and basically just beautiful. I've worn it so much throughout 2016!

Love, Catherine | Diptyque Candle
Diptyque |  Candle

I'm not gonna lie, I do love a good candle, especially during Winter time! The Diptyque candles have such a luxe feel about them, they smell amazing and have a long burn time so will last a while which is the great thing about buying pricier candles. I love the glass jar which you could re-use after it's finished as a makeup brush holder! This one is a mini  Tubereuse, but I'm dying to get my hands on  Roses or  Vanille. They also have a  set of six mini candles which could make for a really great gift if you're indecisive about which fragrance to pick!

Love, Catherine | Mococo Clogau, Silver Bow Necklace
Clogau |  Silver Bow Necklace*

My last choice is this beautiful Silver Bow Necklace from the Welsh jewellery brand Clogau. I was lucky to receive it as a gift from the luxury jewellery stockists Mococo and I've literally worn it so much since, I love it! It's such a girly, delicate piece and just looks lovely paired with pretty much everything! You can check out my full review with lots more pictures of the necklace  here.

Which item would you love to unwrap this Christmas?

Too Faced Christmas In New York | Grande Hotel Cafe

Too Faced Christmas In New York | Grande Hotel Cafe

As soon as the ultimate girly brand Too Faced, announced their Christmas In New York holiday collection, my eyes lit up like a real life heart-eyed emoji. The whole collection is adorable, but the standout piece for me was the Grande Hotel Cafe; a set containing a trio of deliciously scented palettes, housed inside a pretty pink version of New York's iconic Plaza hotel, an ultimate christmassy location.

I know that limited edition palettes can sometimes lack in quality, and I was fully expecting these palettes to not quite be as amazing as the other permanent Too Faced items that I own and love. So I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Grand Hotel Cafe. Some shades are a little bit meh once applied to the lid, but the majority of it has great pigmentation and are super pretty shades. The bronzer and two blushes are stunning quality and the set also comes with a cute mini Better Than Sex mascara.

First up is Peppermint Mocha, a sweet but minty fresh scented palette consisting of pretty pinks and berry tones. The pigmentation with the eyeshadows in this one is not quite on par with the other two palettes, but pretty nonetheless and the blusher quality makes up for it. I love the Christmas Blend shade, a lovely shimmery taupe bronze and I've been obsessed with the Santa Baby blush, a gorgeous just pinched type of pink.

I've never tried an actual Eggnog Latte, so I can't judge if the scent is true to the name but it smells sweet, warm and yummy! I'll admit I actually didn't think I would love this palette, but once I swatched it without the scary green colour I was wowed at how pretty the bronzey shades look together! Eggnog Latte is the prettiest pale gold colour, and Skinny Latte is perfect in the crease.

Gingerbread Cookie is my favourite palette, although it has more of a chocolate scent rather than gingerbread but I ain't complaining. Of course I would be drawn to the shade Winter Dream, a sparkly lilac pink shade and Gingersnap which is an insanely beautiful rich golden shade, with a metallic frosty finish. It's gorgeous and is easily the best quality eyeshadow out of the lot. The Gingerbread bronzer has also become a go to, and now I want to check out the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer range..

Stand out shades in the whole set: Gingersnap, Eggnog Latte, Winter Dream, Skinny Latte, Santa Baby, Gingerbread, Iced Coffee, Cold Brew.

Have you purchased any of the Christmas In New York collection?

October 2016 | Photo Diary

Love, Catherine | October 2016 Instagram Photo Diary

Oh look, another month has just flown by, how insane is that and yet very cliche of me to say. I'm not gonna lie but I'm so strangely excited for Christmas this year, that I may have spent the second half of October annoying my boyfriend with my cheery Christmas music playlist already, and I'm only a teeny bit sorry. I'm like Buddy The Elf on a candy cane sugar high, x1000, so now that it's November I can actually feel a little less guilty about it.
Oh and I also had a little blog header revamp, what do you think? But anyway, here's what happened throughout my not-so-spooky October...

Love, Catherine | Fondant Baby Arrival Cupcakes
Baby Arrival Cupcakes

Babies everywhere! I made these personalised Baby Arrival cupcakes a fair few times during October and I'm so smitten with the cute little designs I made. I think the tiny baby feet are too sweet, but my favourite has got to be the little milk bottle! Do make sure you check out my Cake Facebook page ( facebook.com/cakesbycatherinex) for lots of extra photos, and I would be your bff if you could help me out and give it a little like!

Love, Catherine | Missguided Pink Fluffy Feather Clutch Bag
Fluffy Pink Bag

You know when you're in two minds about buying something, and it's the moment it disappears out of stock that you decide you actually don't want it, you need it. Yep, I turned into a right loser (like I wasn't already) re-checking the Missguided website until this cute little  Pink Feather Clutch Bag came back in stock. I regrettedly never purchased any of them last year when River Island were selling similar fluffy bags in different pastel colours. I love the silky pink lining of this one though!

Love, Catherine | Cute Hair Bow Hairstyle
Hair Bow

Pinterest is forever giving me amazing inspiration in basically every department possible and I love it when I come across pretty hairstyle tutorials! This cute little bow was actually so simple to create, you just take two sections of hair from either side of your head, tie them into a bun, split the bun in half and pin them down, so easy!

Love, Catherine | Floral Bunny Cake
Floral Bunny Cake

I made this pretty bunny cake for the 4th birthday of a little girl who adores her Jellycat Bunny. I always sketch out my cakes and cupcakes first so I can get a rough idea of what I need to do and I love it when my designs actually turn out exactly as planned! I'll admit it took me a ghastly 8 and a half hours to create (plus a mild breakdown in the middle, fondant isn't my best friend) but I was so in love with the finished product, I think it has to be my favourite cake I've ever made!

Love, Catherine | Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tickled Pink
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

If you didn't already know, October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to show support I got some pink goodies from Asda's Tickled Pink* range, including the deliciously scented Raspberry NSPA Bath products, a pink T-Shirt and some yummy Strawberry Cheesecake Oreos. It's definitely worth taking a look at the things they have available as it all goes towards an amazing cause!

Love, Catherine | Fondant Halloween Cupcakes
Halloween Cupcakes

Ahhh how scary are these cupcakes?!!!!.... yeah not very. I obviously went down the cute route instead because that's my basically my life motto at the moment. I do wish I was cool enough to have a social life to actually dress up and go out for Halloween, but unfortunately I'm much more about that granny life with pizza and Netflix, so this was about as Halloween as I got this year. Which one's your fave? I love the little ghost!

Love, Catherine | Dior Rosy Glow Blush
Dior Rosy Glow Blush

Oh y'know, just an appreciation post for a blush that I've never used (awkward laughter). But seriously though, how beautiful is this  Rosy Glow Blush with the Dior print dotted all over it?! It's so classy and pretty. I'm honestly going to have to force myself to use it sometime soon but I literally can't bring myself to ruin it yet, would you?

Love, Catherine | Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector
Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector

Even though the majority of my Summer tan has faded, I'm still having to mix a bit of my darker foundation with my super pale usual shade to get the perfect colour match, and as a result I've retired my icy favourite, Anastasia Starlight Illuminator, for my  Becca Moonstone highlighter which is a little warmer, softer and glowier. It gives the perfect, silky, candlelit glow and I fully remember why I used to be so obsessed with it.
