Introducing Sara Hill | A Shiny New Makeup Brand

Sara Hill Makeup

Yay to shiny new beauty brands, because Lord knows we can't ever have enough makeup! This particular new range is designed by makeup artist Sara Hill and has a really fresh, modern vibe to it, taking bare faced beauty up a level! I was kindly sent a few bits from the range to try out so here's my little overview!

Sara Hill Makeup | Little Pop Concealer

Sara Hill Makeup

Sara Hill Makeup | Posey Blusher
Blusher | Posey | £19
Pink blusher is my weakness and this one called Posey is definitely a goodie. It's a really pretty rosey pink shade, which gives you a lovely flushed, natural look. It does have great colour pay off but it isn't intensely pigmented, which means it's perfect for adding a subtle pop of colour to begin with or you can build it up if you like.

Sara Hill Makeup | Little Pop Concealer
Little Pop! | Concealer

Sara Hill Makeup | Little Pop Concealer
Little Pop! | Concealer | £16.50
The Little Pop Concealer is the cutest of the bunch! I love the quirky packaging with the bold writing on the front and the adorable description on the back, I almost wish all of the products were designed like this, but either way it definitely stands out. The concealer itself has a really creamy consistency and has amazing coverage. I personally wouldn't wear it under my eyes, but I think it's amazing for masking blemishes. I have the shade Milk Bottle (bonus points for cute names), which is a perfect fair skin colour.

Sara Hill Makeup | Pink Opal Metallic Pigment
Metallic Pigment | Pink Opal | £17
Next is a little Metallic Pigment in the shade Pink Opal, which is a gorgeous vanilla shade with a beautiful pink reflex to it, which my photo has failed to pick up, boo. I think the shade is really similar to Mac Relects Transparent Pink, but is a little chunkier in consistency. I'd use a bit of Mac Fix + to apply it, and it gives amazing colour payoff and a super shimmery pretty look.

Sara Hill Eyeshadows | Gravity, Treasure Chest, Angel Fluff & Champagne
Eyeshadows L-R: Gravity, Treasure Chest, Angel Fluff, Champagne | £16
Lastly are the solo eyeshadows which I found to be a little bit hit or miss. Gravity is a grey shade with pink shimmer running though it which makes it really unique, this one has great pigmentation! Treasure Chest is a lovely matte brown, perfect for in the crease and also has great colour pay off. Angel Fluff is a peachy pink with a satin finish, and Champagne is a warm, pearly shade, these two I didn't get on with the best as I found them a little bit powdery and didn't they seem to transfer well. When swatched with a finger or brush I'd get a decent colour payoff, but transferring that shadow from my finger/brush to my skin made them go a bit patchy and I found I had to work longer with them than I usually would.

I think most of the range is really promising! What do you think?

You know when discounts are just too good that you simply have to buy something, even if you really don't even need it or have the budget for it. Yep, that's the story of my life. The beauty website Escentual often have 25% off sitewide, which is a discount that I rarely have the willpower to avoid. It's definitely a massive reduction in price, especially for designer beauty brands! This time I bagged myself a couple of pretty pink Dior treats, and it didn't do that much damage to my purse (just a tiny bit but c'mon it's Dior).

I picked up the beautiful Rosy Glow Blush in the shade Petal, which is a pretty soft candy pink colour and is exactly the kind of blush shade I always gravitate towards. I adore the gorgeous 'Dior' print, embossed beautifully across the top of the blush which makes it look so pretty and delicate that I almost never want to ruin it!

I also couldn't resist the Lip Glow Pomade which is a relatively new product to Dior's Lip Glow collection. I noticed it in a few press photos of the Spring collection a few months ago, but for some reason I couldn't find it available anywhere until now. I already love the original Lip Glow, and the Pomade apparently gives the same rosey tint with a glossier, thinner texture, similar to a lipgloss but non-sticky. Plus, it's in a cute pink tube okay, I'm a magpie to all things pink!

What do you think?

Zoella Beauty Sweet Inspirations | A French Patisserie & Macaron Inspired Range

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations Collection, Review

I definitely wasn't the only one who went totally heart eyed when YouTube Queen Zoella showed the first few glimpses of her new Sweet Inspirations beauty range. The soft pink and baby blue, French patisserie style packaging is utterly adorable and the macaron scented concept had me instantly sold.

When it comes to bath products, sweet, yummy and indulgent scents are my all time fave. I was a little worried these might have a bit of an artificial, sickly sweet scent but nope, they actually smell quite expensive, and similar in fragrance to the Laura Mercier bath products. The range has a delicious almond and vanilla scent that smells like fluffy marshmallows and creme brulee, heaven!!

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations Collection, Body Fondant

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations Collection, Body Fondant
Body Fondant | Shimmer Balm | £10

I actually gave the early online launch a miss, purely because I was being a diva as they didn't have the Body Fondant available, which was one of the products that I wanted most. So I eagerly waited until my local Superdrug had the range in stock, which I was so impatient for but it was worth it. The product is essentially a creamy balm that you massage onto your skin and it leaves behind a sunkissed, shimmery glow. It's actually a lot prettier and more natural looking that I'd expected and there's no tacky chunks of glitter either! It's housed in a cute round box and comes with an adorable powder puff, with lovely little lace details on it, that you use to apply the balm. It's the most expensive product in the collection at £10, which I feel is slightly overpriced compared to the rest of the range. I also think the packaging is perhaps a little large, as cute as it is, or it would've been a perfect holiday product!

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations Collection, Sugar Dip
Sugar Dip | Scented Bath Salt Granules | £6

Whoever designed the packaging in this range need a round of applause and an extra cookie, and Sugar Dip is one of the products that has really unique, quirky packaging which really sells it. The cone shape and scalloped edges reminds me of the funfair and candyfloss for some reason! You open it to reveal what looks like a little packet of bon bons or pick 'n' mix sweets, but is actually a very yummy smelling package of bath salts. You simply sprinkle them into your bath and they slowly dissolve leaving you and your bath smelling practically edible. Using these is like dipping into a bath of sugary yumminess and now I totally understand the name.

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations Collection, Le Fizz
Le Fizz | Fragranced Bath Fizzer | £5

Le Fizz looks like an old fashioned style candy bar that I almost expected to find a golden ticket hiding inside when I peeled back the paper. Sadly there wasn't any real chocolate, but cute little cubes of bath fizzers instead, that you break off and pop into the bath to make it smell super delicious and indulgent. I love using these as an added extra to bubble bath products.

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations Collection, Double Creme
Double Creme | Body Cream | £5

I'll admit, the lazy gal in me really dislikes using body moisturisers and I have tons of them that are lying in my drawers practically unused. So did I really need another? Not particularly, but cute packaging always gets the better of me. Double Creme is like lathering fresh whipped cream over your body and leaves behind the same heavenly vanilla, macaron inspired scent. It really reminds me of my Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Souffle Body Creme, and I might actually get more use out of this than the rest of my lonely body cream collection.

Zoella Beauty | Sweet Inspirations, Life Is Sweet Beauty Bag
Life Is Sweet | Beauty Bag | £6

And of course I couldn't resist this adorable little pouch, the cute scalloped edges just got me and I love the duck egg blue colour. It's labelled as a beauty bag and would be perfect for popping into your handbag for storing little bits and bobs into it like hair ties, bobby pins and your current lipstick etc.

I decided against purchasing the mist this time, as I'd had one from the original collection and personally I prefer actual perfumes as the scents sticks around for a lot longer than the mist, although I did use it as a room spray instead which is quite a nice idea. You may also notice a milk bottle shaped gap in these pictures, because there were no Bath Lattes left on the shelves, so unfortunately I wasn't able to grab that one at the time. However, since buying this lot I've actually already sneakily added it to my collection (someone take my purse away from me please and thanks.)

Which is your favourite Sweet Inspirations product?

23rd Birthday Snapshots ♥

23rd Birthday Snapshots | Love, Catherine

Love, Catherine | Birthday Selfie
#ObligatoryBirthdaySelfie
As I took a few pretty pictures from my birthday weekend, I thought it was only right to pop them all into a little blog post and share what I got up to, as well as some of the cute things I was lucky to receive!

SouthGate Bath

Me and my boyfriend had a little bank holiday trip to London but if you didn't know, I live in the beautiful city of Bath and took this little snap of SouthGate shopping centre before we went to the train station. The rainbow umbrella design is genius, it still looks vibrant and Summery whilst also managing to ironically depict the British Summer weather, which isn't the greatest let's face it.

Whilst in London, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit Peggy Porschen, aka. the girliest cake shop ever, which currently looks even prettier with the pink floral display running around the entrance. The cake was delicious and I also bought one of the cake recipe books, but I think I was mostly fascinated by how pink and pretty everything was!

Bob Bob Ricard | Press For Champagne
Bob Bob Ricard

Bob Bob Ricard | Chicken & Mushroom Pie

Love, Catherine | Dinner at Bob Bob Ricard

We also had a fancy schmancy dinner at Bob Bob Ricard, because if you can't pretend to be posh on your birthday, when can you?! At the table was an actual Press For Champagne button and if I could've taken it home, life would be complete.

Marc Jacobs | Remarcable Foundation
Marc Jacobs | Remarcable Foundation

A birthday isn't complete without subjecting your boyfriend to a teeny bit of makeup shopping, it's basically the only time you can do it mostly guilt free! I had no idea Marc Jacobs makeup line was sold in the UK, but I instantly picked up the Remarcable foundation which I'd been dying to try for the longest time. It's has the most insane pigmentation that I've ever seen, a tiny dot goes the longest way!

Bombay Duck | Belle Blush Pink Cake Stand
Bombay Duck | Belle Cake Stand

I was also given the prettiest blush pink cake stand from Bombay Duck as a gift from my sisters. I think everyone in my family has cottoned on that I love baking by the amount of cake I practically force feed them. My Mum also bought me a pretty pink stand mixer, so I can finally rest my old wooden spoon and become part of the 21st century, woo.

Birthday Treats | Truffles and Teddy Bears
Birthday Treats | Truffles & Teddys

Lastly, whilst we were browsing Harrods like total London tourists, my boyfriend treated me to my favourite Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles from Charbonnel et Walker, I almost went for the Sea Salt Caramel Truffles which also sounded delicious, but I obviously gravitated towards the pink ones again (eye roll). He also bought me a super soft cute pink teddy bear because if he hadn't bought it, I definitely would've! Anyone would think I had just turned 12 not 23...

TreatBox UK | June 2016, Baking Theme

This post comes at you today with a unique twist on a subscription box. You've probably heard a million things about those beauty boxes by now and are most likely a little bit sick of them, especially when some of them arrive with minimal products and a contents of items that you'll never use. Well, enter TreatBoxUK, a unique monthly box of goodies ranging from homeware, to stationary, to beauty, jewellery and cute shabby chic items. Each months box has a different theme and the lovely owner, Zoe, kindly sent me June's treat box to try, which has a baking and biscuit theme and is totally up my street.

It came in a large but slim, letterbox friendly parcel, which is handy so you don't have to worry about being in when the postman comes. The contents of the box was filled with lots of thoughtfully selected baking themed products, and I could just tell how much thought and effort had been put into creating such a lovely box.

I was excited to see a cream wooden spatula as I'd been in need of one and I love the cute Happiness is Homemade phrase etched into the handle. I especially love the Sweet Thoughts Notepad which has an assortment of adorable biscuits scattered across the cover, which I think I'll use as a little recipe book! Another cute touch was the Chalkboard Stickers which you can pop onto any jar or cannister to give it a label and write whatever you want onto it. The sweet tooth in me was also pleased to see two sweet treats inside the box, as I'd once been subscribed to a box that had a one-off baking theme, without anything actually edible inside, which is just cruel I tell you. With TreatBox however, I got a cute decorated biscuit and some popcorn tea from Tea Pigs, which sounds downright delicous and I kinda wanna put the kettle straight on and use it right this second. (Edit: I totally did.)

The entire TreatBox contains:
 Happiness is Homemade Spatula
 Sweet Thoughts Biscuit Notepad
 Biscuit Nail File
 Star Baker Pencil
You've Gotta Risk It To Get The Biscuit Print
 Chalkboard Stickers
6 Mini Cupcake Pegs & 3 Glittery Gold Pegs
 Tea Pigs Popcorn Tea Sachet
 Edible Cookie

I had to do my research to find out a little more about it and I couldn't believe that it's only £12 a month as you get so many lovely goodies inside. There's actually double the amount of products to what I was expecting and there isn't one item that I don't love. I think it's a lovely idea if you wanted to treat yourself each month, or you can buy it as a one off for £12.95 if you wanted to try it out, or even give it as a gift. You can check it out  here if you fancy.

What do you think?

May 2016 | Photo Diary

May 2016 | Photo Diary | Love, Catherine

I think I need a slap on the wrist because I've been slacking in the blogging department and as a result I'm slightly late in my post uploads, eek! However, I'm trying to get my act together, so here's a few of my favourite snaps from the month of May!

Side note; If you follow me on  Instagram you may know that May is also my birthday month, but as I already have so many pictures for this post, I've decided to write a separate post dedicated to everything birthday related, from what I got up to, to some of the pretty presents I received, and it'll be up really soon!

A Hair Refresh Using Olaplex | Curly Blonde Hair
A Hair Refresh

I was treated as an early birthday gift to a much needed haircut and dye at a fancy salon, and I was so pleased with the outcome! They used Olaplex, which is a newish treatment designed for use with bleached hair to prevent any breakage throughout the process, and now my hair feels in such good condition! Would you believe I had about 5 inches cut off?! I also decided to go a little blonder and I love it!

H&M | Chalky Pink Nail Polish
H&M | Chalky Pink Nail Polish

Another manicure pic! I've really been loving my H&M polishes I bought a little while back, including this shade Chalky Pink, which is a lovely mauvey pink colour. I would definitely recommend you check these polishes out, they are great quality and have a lovely shade range. I really want to collect a few more!

Bath Goodies | Rose & Co. and Patisserie De Bain

Bath Goodies | Rose & Co. and Patisserie De Bain
Exciting Mail | Rose & Co. and Patisserie De Bain

I was so overwhelmed and excited when I received a giant box of goodies in the mail from Rose & Co. and Patisserie De Bain, I don't think a bath range could be any more 'me', right? It's all so pink and pretty and smells downright delicious, I mean I kinda want to eat the beautiful cupcake soaps but I think I'd regret that decision...

NYX | Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator, Sunbeam
NYX | Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator

There's something about those unobtainable brands that just make you want them all the more isn't there? (Despite the fact if they're any good or not). So I was pretty bloody excited to say the least when I spotted a shiny new NYX counter in my local Boots, and obviously had to take full advantage of this new privilege and buy a few things. One of the items that stood out to me most was this beautiful liquid highlighter in the shade Sunbeam. When swatched it's such a pretty, pinky pearl shade which looks so similar to Nars Copacabana!

Summer Hair | Wrap Around Fishtail Braids
Summer Hair | Wrap Around Fishtail Braids

As I have super long hair I love doing different things with it, but it's summer time when the braids just have to come out! I did this look by taking a section of hair near my ear from either side of my head and fishtail plaited them. I then pulled at them, making the braids bigger and looser and simply wrapped them around the back of my head and pinned them in place. So quick and easy but really pretty!

Doughnut/Donut Themed Birthday Cake
My Sister's Birthday Cake | Donut Themed Cake

Are you bored of my cake pictures yet?! It was my sister's birthday and I decided to create a Donut themed cake for her! It has a mixture of chocolate and vanilla sponge inside, sandwhiched together with yummy chocolate frosting.
