H&M Makeup | Hit or Miss?

H&M Makeup | Hit or Miss?
If you're as much of a makeup geek as I am then you'll understand the excitement when a new beauty range is released, it's almost like a beauty themed Christmas. Now whilst having a makeup range is definitely still a new thing to H&M, it's not quite so shiny and new to the beauty community anymore, as it moves so friggin fast that me and my purse can hardly keep up with it. That being said, I decided it was about time I took a peek at what their new(ish) makeup line has to offer!

H&M Nail Polish | Chalky Pink, Bubblegum & Sepia
Nail Polish | Chalky Pink, Bubblegum & Sepia

I feel like they've really hit the nail on the head with the packaging, it's cute yet classy at the same time and I love the cream and gold shades. The nail polish packaging is such a winner for me, it's adorable and for some reason it reminds me of a little fairy toadstool (anyone? just me.. yep). I picked up Chalky Pink which is a lovely mauvy pink shade, Bubblegum which is the prettiest pastel, Barbie-esque pink (I've been obsessed with this one), and Sepia which is a brown toned, pinky mauve and really on trend at the moment. So far I've only used Bubblegum, but it applied evenly and was opaque with two coats. They also come with a nice wide brush which makes it really easy to apply. I'd definitely pick up more!
Verdict: Hit

H&M Lipstick | Pomelo Juice & Powder Puff
Cream Lip Colour | Pomelo Juice & Powder Puff

H&M Lipstick | Powder Puff
Cream Lip Colour | Powder Puff

H&M Lipstick | Pomelo Juice
Cream Lip Colour | Pomelo Juice

You just can't make a beauty haul without adding a few lipsticks can you, it just wouldn't be right if you didn't (says the lipstick horder). I bought two Cream Lip Colours, one in the shade Powder Puff and another called Pomelo Juice. Powder Puff is literally the prettiest nude pink colour and basically the kind of shade I always reach for, it reminds me a little bit of Mac Creme Cup which is my all time favourite lipstick. Pomelo Juice is literally Creme Cup's peachier sister, it's a really lovely peachy pink shade, perfect for Spring/Summer! The formula of these is just as you'd expect from the name, they are really creamy and have a nice sheen to them, pretty much just like the Mac Cremesheen formula. Again, I'd 100% want to try a few others out as these two have really impressed me!
Verdict: Hit.

H&M Eyeshadow | Pop The Question & Vintage Doll

H&M Eyeshadow | Pop The Question
High Impact Eye Colour | Pop The Question

H&M Eyeshadow | Vintage Doll
High Impact Eye Colour | Vintage Doll

I also got two of their solo eyeshadows in the shades Pop The Question and Vintage Doll. Pop The Question is a pretty powder pink shade with fine silver glitter and it looks so pretty and shimmery in the pan (the photo does it no justice). However I was really disappointed with it as the pigmentation really just isn't there and you're just left with a few specks of glitter on your lid. As they are supposed to be 'high impact' shadows I did expect more.
Vintage Doll is a matte pink toned cream shade and luckily this one has really great pigmentation, which can be quite hard to find with not only matte shades but also pale creams and white colours. It also feels lovely and soft and blends out nicely, although I'm not sure if I'd ever find myself reaching for this shade!
If you're thinking about getting any of the eyeshadows I'd avoid buying online, and buy from the store instead so you can swatch them as they seem a little bit hit or miss. I feel like the packaging of these may look super cute but when you actually hold them they feel really lightweight and a little bit naff to be quite honest.
Verdict: Miss.

H&M Raspberry Lip Balm
Lip Balm | Raspberry

The last thing I bought was a Raspberry Lip Balm and the packaging is just so cute! It contains Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Beeswax and Castor Oil so it has lots of lovely nourishing ingredients. The scent is a little artificial and smells a bit like those lollipops you'd have as a child with the bubblegum in the centre, great if you like that kind of thing, but it doesn't smell anything like raspberries! The actual texture of the lip balm is lovely though, it feels nice and buttery but not too thick or sticky, and makes my lips feel nice and soft. Deffo one I'll pop in my bag when I'm out and about!
Verdict: Hit.

What do you think of the H&M makeup range?
