Favourite Products For Long-Lasting, Sweat-Proof Makeup

Summer appears to be officially in full swing in the UK and by that  I mean the weather is decent enough to risk not taking an umbrella everywhere with me. As I have oily skin, long lasting makeup is an absolute must, especially in Summer time when the heat attempts to ruin my makeup. I really dislike when I read these kind of posts or watch videos all about summer makeup and they mention light, dewy foundations, which would just slide off my face at the best of times, let alone Summer! So this post is going to be all about my personal favourite products for super long lasting, sweat proof makeup, that you don't feel like you have to keep reaching for that compact 24/7, even during those warmer months!

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation
This is by far the most long lasting foundation I've ever tried and when I wear it and I barely have to worry about touching up my makeup when I wear it (although knowing me I will anyway). As gross as this is to admit, I've actually accidently fallen asleep with it on and it's still looked fairly decent come morning! It gives amazing coverage and has a radiant matte finish without looking completely dull or flat on the skin. I wear this everyday mixed with the Revlon Photoready foundation to sheer it out a little.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
I use this little powder to set my under eye concealer and before I discovered this product I used to get creasing all the time, no matter which concealer I used which was so annoying. I've been using it for about a year now and I apply it with a fluffy eyeshadow brush, mainly the Sigma E35 brush, and I never ever have a problem with creasing anymore it's amazing! I'm not sure how great it is for brightening the under eye area like the name would suggest but it sets everything really well and smoothes everything out. Plus I still have a little less than half the pot left which is so worth the money considering I've had it for a year (and my niece and nephew attacked it too).

Mac Studio Fix Powder
Setting my foundation is a step I cannot go without as I feel like it's crucial into keeping that base looking flawless for so much longer. Mac Studio Fix powder is a fairly recent addition to my makeup collection and so far I'm loving it as it's amazing at keeping everything in place! Another favourite is the Seventeen Stay Time pressed powder which is a really good one for setting everything without adding any coverage!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
This is by far the best brow gel I've ever used as it really keeps my brows in place all day and I don't have to worry about them looking scarecrow-esque and out of place. It does harden my brows a little but it's not something that bothers me as I know they're not gonna budge. It's far better than the Mac brow gel which I wouldn't bother spending your money on if I'm honest (sorry Mac, I still love you more than my bank balance does <3)

Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
If you want your eyeshadow to stand the test of time then you need this little guy! I have to wear primer or my eyeshadow will crease within about four hours. I've tried other primers like the Urban Decay Primer Potion and Mac Painterly Paint Pot, both of which prolonged the wear of my eyeshadow but come the end of the day my eyeshadow would still be creased. The Nars primer however, is completely incredible and even when I've had my makeup on for far too long (16+ hours) my eyeshadow still looks perfect! I think it's out of stock quite often so if you find it, grab it!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
This is another newbie that I've only recently discovered but it was literally love at first.. spray?! I'll admit I was pretty sceptical about these makeup setting sprays as I wasn't really sure if they'd make a whole lot of difference. The first time I used the Urban Decay All Nighter though, I was shocked at how much longer my makeup had lasted and it's a total must for those days you know you'll need to keep your makeup looking perfect for as long as possible. I just wish I'd had the guts to buy the full size instead of the miniature version.

What are you recommendations for long lasting makeup?

By Terry Baume De Rose Lip Balm

By Terry's  Baume De Rose lip balm has been on my wishlist for the longest time and finally it is mine! Unless you are completely makeup and beauty obsessed like moi here, then you may think I'm absolutely absurd for wanting a lip balm that costs a whopping £39...yes, I will hold my head in shame because you did read right. Who knows, maybe I am totally insane but I can tell you now that this is the best lip balm I've ever tried!

If you've been reading my blog from the beginning (high five to you troopers if there are any of you out there), then you may have heard me bang on a couple times about my love for the Dior Creme De Rose lip balm and my utter devastation that it was discontinued in the UK. Ever since I haven't found anything to better it, not Korres, Nuxe, EOS, Lanolips etc. the list goes on. But I have totally found a winner with the Baume De Rose and I think it might even beat it!

Packed with super nourishing, fancy ingredients, it has Rose Flower Essential Wax and Pastel Oil to boost cell renewal, Shea Butter to heal and hydrate and Vitamin E to protect. The texture is like utter heaven to wear, it's so lovely and creamy on the lips but not too thick that it's sticky and not too thin that it's slippery like Vaseline. A little goes a long way so I don't feel like I have to go overboard with it and it lasts a good while on the lips too, I personally hate those lip balms that sink in within about 10 minutes of applying them and then they feel dry again!

It has the most divine rose scent that is lovely and delicate and not too overpowering which is nice. It's not totally clear in colour like some lip balms, but is actually a pretty, sheer, milky pink shade. The texture, scent and colour is basically the exact same as the Dior Creme De Rose, so obviously when I first tried it out I was pretty excited that I'd finally found a match.

In terms of how well it moistures is where it really exceeds any lip balm I've tried before, even Dior. The first time I used this, my lips hadn't been in the worst chapped state ever but they had taken a bit of a beating from wearing a matte lipstick all day. I popped a bit on before bed and when I woke up I was genuinely shocked at how plump and smooth my lips were. At first I was a bit confused as to why they looked in such good condition (morning zombie brain), until I suddenly remembered that I'd used the By Terry lip balm the night before and it all made sense. I was so pleased that it genuinely works wonders!

If you ever feel like splurging on an expensive lip balm I would highly recommend this one. It even has an SPF of 15 to provide your lips with even more protection if I hadn't given you enough reasons to buy it already. It is pure luxury in a jar, and it actually works!

Have you tried the  Baume De Rose?

Mac Mineralize Blush in Petal Power

I've been eyeing up Mac's Mineralize Blush in the shade Petal Power even since my friend got it as a gift for Christmas and it looked so pretty that I put it straight onto my wishlist (makeup envy is a real thing). After narrowly avoiding it on many a Mac store trip, I finally caved and purchased it and whilst it was pricey at £21, it's definitely worth it.

The colour is the prettiest pinky coral with amazing golden shimmer running through it. Think Nars Orgasm but more intense and dare I say it...better! I'd actually purchased the Nars one just before it and whilst I do like it I kind of wish I'd saved myself the money and just purchased this Mac one first.

I'm loving Petal Power at the moment (bonus points for the cute name) as it's so Summery, vibrant and glowy, and as a little tip is looks b-e-a-u-tiful with Mac Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish across the cheekbones as they just melt together and it really compliments the colour of the shimmer in the blush.

The pigmentation is so good that you barely need to use much of it to get a nice colour pay off , I find I have to make sure I tap any excess off my brush before applying it as no one likes that scary clown blush look do they. This does mean that it's great if you really want to get your money's worth as it the product will last you much longer!

Have you tried any Mineralize Blush's from Mac? I definitely want to purchase some more!

Mac Soar Lip Liner | The Kylie Jenner Lip #1

Mac's Soar Lip Liner has been doing the rounds on all the beauty blogs for quite some time, and I decided it was about time that I joined in. Made famous by the queen of pouty lips, Kylie Jenner, everyone just *had* to own it in attempt to recreate that perfect 90's supermodel nude lip.

At first I really didn't think I was going to like it (don't ask why I bought it anyway, my brain is clearly very weird) but once I applied it, it was an instant love! It's described on the Mac website as a mid-tone pinkish brown but as I'm milk bottle pale it does pull a little darker and more berry toned on me, which I personally really like. Some of these 90's brown nudes can wash me out a little (yeah I'm talking about you Mac Blankety...) but I find Soar to be so wearable and pretty and I feel like this one would be really easy to pull off on so many different skintones!

It's a matte finish but I don't find it to be drying at all and it lasts hours on the lips, I've even eaten with this on and was surprised that the majority of it was still intact by the end of it.

I'm going to be doing a little series on all my favourite Kylie Jenner inspired lip shades so keep a lookout for the next one!

What do you think of Mac Soar?

Recent Purchases | Nars, Hourglass, Mac & Anastasia Beverly Hills

I've been majorly slacking with my blog recently and I was even more put off when I found two blogs (here and here) both by the same person, that had completely copied and pasted all of my blog posts, pictures and everything, even down to my blog name. To say I was disheartened would be an understatement. I'm only a small time blogger but it just kind of upset me because I do work hard on the posts that I share, and I don't think people realise the time it takes to create a blog post, so for someone to just rip it all off was just very frustrating. Who has the time to sit there and do that?! There are some weird people in the world. Sighh.

Anyway, enough of me being a total Debbie Downer, as you can probably tell by the title, I may have been feeling a little bit spendy these past few weeks so I thought I'd share my recent beauty buys!

I've been desperate to try out the new Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation as it sounded like the perfect foundation for me. It claims to give amazing coverage and last all day, whilst still feeling super light on the skin. Although the reviews I'd read for it were completely 50/50, I swatched it in store and was shocked at how far a tiny pump spread and it was that which basically convinced me I needed to try it out. I got the shade Deauville which I think may be a tiny bit too dark for me (the sales assistant wasn't particularly helpful) but I'll see how I get on with it and will definitely write an update about it!

Whilst I was in Space NK swatching every pretty thing in sight (as you do), I saw this Nars Duo Intensity Eyeshadow in the shade Callisto and instantly decided that there was no way I'd be able to leave the shop without it. It's a gorgeous shimmery, champagne, lilac shade and it's so pigmented I can't even tell you!

I also finally took the plunge and picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade, in the shade Taupe, along with the no. 12 brush to see what all the fuss was about. I've had these two for a few weeks now and can tell you that it really is such a good product, but you do have to be careful to not use too much! I don't always use it though as I find I take a lot longer perfecting my brows, as I have to be really precise with it, than if I was using my usual Soap & Glory Archery which takes me all of two minutes.

Oh look another Mac lipstick! Anyone would think I have an obsession, (it's healthy I swear...) I'd had my eye on both Mac Please Me or Pink Plaid and it took me ages to decide in store which one to get as they are both practically the same, except Pink Plaid is more blue toned. I eventually went with Please Me as I thought it might be a little easier to pull off. It's such a pretty, rosy pink shade and I can't stop wearing it!

And lastly, the prettiest of them all! I took a major leap and bought the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette, which is probably the most expensive makeup product that I've ever bought but damnn, it's so so gorgeous! I already own Dim Infusion which is my favourite blush ever, the formula is amazing as it seems to just glide across and smooth out the skin, it blends out really well and lasts all day. So I knew that even though this little one was going to make my bank balance weep, it would be so worth it! The shades it contains are Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra and Mood Exposure and I'm a little bit in love with it already.

Do you own any of these products?
