Cohorted February Beauty Box

If you hadn't already heard, the beauty brand Cohorted has recently jumped on the beauty box bandwagon. If you're not familiar with Cohorted, it's basically a website that sells luxury beauty products at a discounted price. Each week there are four new 'cohorts' that go up on the site and the more people that agree to buy the cohorted product, the cheaper it gets! As they are well known for their high end brands I was pretty excited to hear about their new beauty box release.

Surprisingly this is the first beauty box I've ever purchased, I've always been a bit apprehensive that I'll be chucking my money away for a glorified box of sachet samples. Retailing at £19.99, it's not the cheapest of beauty boxes, but the contents is worth £67.50! In this month's edition you get four full size beauty products and one deluxe sample size, no useless sachets in sight, thank god!

Packaged in a beautiful, sleek black box, tied with a pretty ribbon, it's classic but definitely looks the part. Inside was a Dolce & Gabbana Clarifying Lotion, Benefit Bella Bamba Lip Gloss, Korres Milk Protein Cream Cleanser, Korres Eye Primer and a 3ml Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara. The only product I wasn't particularly thrilled about was the Benefit lipgloss, purely because the watermelon shade isn't something I would ever wear but I guess that's just personal preference, the rest I'm looking forward to trying! Each month five of the boxes contain a 'super product', this months was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, mega jealous of the lucky people that found that in their boxes!

Unlike many beauty boxes available, this one isn't a subscription service so you're able to pick and choose which month you'd like to purchase. Obviously that means it's a first come, first serve basis so if you want one you do have to be quick, February's box sold out instantly!

Would you buy a Cohorted box? Which beauty boxes would you recommend?

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in No 1. Nude Beige

Oh look another lipstick on my blog, what a surprise! Definitely one of the prettiest looking lipsticks around, in my opinion, are the YSL Rouge Voluptes as the gold packaging with the central 'ysl' detailing is just so beautiful and screams luxury. We all know I am the absolute worst at resisting makeup in pretty packaging! I have the shade No. 1 Nude Beige which I've had in my collection for almost a year now, but it's one of those makeup items that only comes out occasionally as I can't bear to use it all up!

It's a gorgeous milky pink shade, similar to Mac Creme Cup and the formula is so lovely and creamy which feels really comfortable to wear. It's super rich and pigmented so I find I don't need to apply much of it to get it opaque, and it lasts a long time on the lips without fading too, which is also good because the less you can apply the longer it will keep and you won't feel as bad about spending £25 on it. (That's a lie I still feel bad, but it's worth the guilt haha.)

Also, a little tip; don't take your most expensive, prettiest lipstick on a night out with you because the likelihood that you will scratch it up and ruin it during a drunken makeup re-application, is very likely *crys*. (You might be able to detect a chunk missing in the 3rd picture, whoops!)

I really want to try No. 7, Lingerie Pink too! Which YSL lipsticks are you lusting after?

Valentines Gift Guide for Her

I think it's safe to say that I'm having one of those 'let's imagine I'm rich as hell' days. Don't judge my heartbreakingly expensive wishlist because I'm currently sat with my blanket wrapped around me, in full on winter gear in the hope I don't freeze to death in my little Uni room, and my student loan is wearing rather thin. I'm allowed to dream okay *sobs* (I should probably be doing work but this is definitely a lot more fun).

Favourite Brow Products: Anastasia and Soap & Glory

I am a firm believer that good brows can completely transform the face, just looking at those rather scary pictures of celebrities with their eyebrows photoshopped out is enough to convince you (and scar you for life). Now don't get me wrong, I don't particularly think my brows are anything spectacular, and they certainly aren't on par with those amazing gradient style brows that I would have no chance of pulling off. I've got to make do with what I've got, so for the time being, presentable, neat and natural brows are the way forward for me, and that task has certainly become a lot easier since discovering these three products!

I recently decided to upgrade my 10 billion year old tweezers to the ever so pretty, baby pink Anastasia pair. They are so precise, they pull out even the shortest of hairs with ease and make the dreaded mission of plucking the old brows a total breeze. They even survived an accidental whirl in the washing machine, which I would not recommend doing, (although I would recommend that you check your laundry before you stuff it all carelessly into the washer, oops!).

To fill in my brows I used to use the Anastasia Brow Wiz, but I've since discovered the Soap & Glory Archery brow pencil and I can tell you that it's identical to the Brow Wiz except a whole lot cheaper; £8 or £16 for the same product, I know which one I'm gonna buy. The only difference between the two that I can tell, is that the Anastasia version offers a wide shade range whereas Soap & Glory only has two. I'm using 'Blondeshell' which is the lightest out of the two which in my opinion isn't really that light (I used medium ash in the Brow Wiz just for reference). That being said it's a really great product, the spoolie on one end is great for combing through the brows and shaping them before you apply the product, and it's also pretty handy to go over afterwards to get rid of any excess product. The pencil end is really tiny so you can mimic fine brow hairs and get much more natural looking brows. It's honestly pretty hard to mess up with it, so you can avoid frightening people with eyebrows that take over your entire face (no offence if you like that look).

To finish I set my brows with a brow gel which is a must for me, nobody wants to check their appearance at the end of the day and realise they've been sporting out of place, scarecrow brows all afternoon. I use the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel as it's just the best and when I use it my eyebrows literally do not budge all day! I've tried various other brow gels, even the Mac one which is pretty poor compared to Anastasia's version. I feel like I've written Anastasia about a million times in this post, so I'm sorry for any overkill!

What are you favourite brow products?

January Favourites | 2015

Well thank god for that January is officially over, cue applause! It's my worst month of the year as the magic of Christmas is over, everyone's purses are feeling rather empty and the miserable English weather never fails to put a damper on everything (oh I do like a pun). But fear not, I'm not here to be a Debbie Downer, I am actually here to write about a few little items that have stood out to me throughout the month of January.

Laura Mercier Highlight
It's technically called the Matte Radiance Baked Powder, although I'm at a loss as to why it's called 'matte' as it's anything but, maybe because this one is less glitter and more shimmer. It creates a lovely soft and glowy look and it's the only highlighter I've been reaching for this month (sorry Mac Soft & Gentle).

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk
I actually bought this one almost a year ago now and I tried it, loved it and wore it for a while until various other lip products came along and stole the limelight, you know how it is! However, I recently wrote a blog post about it (linked here if you'd like to see) and I fell back in love with it all over again! It's such a perfect, pretty, pink shade and for some reason reminds me of something Blair Waldorf would wear! (Desperately trying to make Gossip Girl references relevant again..)

Clarins Instant Concealer
This little concealer is an absolute gem! I have the shade 01 which is amazing at covering dark under-eye circles and it's brilliant at masking any problems areas on the face too. I've also been loving using it as a substitute for when I don't fancy wearing foundation. Just a little bit blended out across the face seems to give really great coverage whilst still being really skin-like. Not to mention that you get a huge 15ml, far more than your average concealer. Winner.

Real Techniques 301 Flat Contour Brush
Has everyone calmed down a bit about the Bold Metals collection yet? Nope, me neither. This brush is so good at creating a nice, defined contour and in my opinion, creates quite a professional effect if blended out well! Plus how pretty is the rose gold packaging?! Read more about it here.

Lancome Hypnose Mascara
I don't think I've really spoken much about mascara before on my blog, but this is my favourite ever mascara. Quite a big claim I know! I had a tube of this back in the summer and I absolutely loved it, but didn't repurchase as it's a bit on the pricey side. However, I was lucky enough to receive two tubes of it for Christmas which I was so happy about. It's the perfect mascara for adding length, separation and volume, it doesn't flake and it's really easy to remove. It also lasts a long time before it dries out too which is great because at least you know you're going to get your moneys worth!

Topshop Blush in Good Girl
This is one of my favourite blushes and it's definitely been my most used this January. It's a gorgeous pale pink shade and it's been doing a lovely job at brightening my cheeks up in this gloomy month.

Gossip Girl
Thought I'd throw a little non-beauty extra in here because I need to vent about my latest TV show obsession. I know I'm quite a few years late on the bandwagon, but as you may have guessed I recently started watching Gossip Girl and I literally can't pry myself away! It's similar to The O.C but with the glitz and glamour of New York city and I'm so utterly jealous of their lives and their wardrobes!

What have you been loving throughout January?
