A Lipstick Brand You Need To Check Out | Gerard Cosmetics

Gerard Cosmetics | Lipstick & Hydra Matte Lipstick Swatches
Swatches L-R: Fairy Godmother, Buttercup, Ballet Slipper, Serenity
After I'd bought and loved one of Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Lipsticks in the shade Serenity, I decided to try a few more things out from the brand, plus I was totally swayed by the fact that I had a 40% off discount code so it seemed too good a deal to pass up! The code I used was GC40, just in case anyone was interested as it might still work.

The Hydra Matte lipsticks are Gerard Cosmetics addition to the Liquid Lipstick trend, and they are pretty impressive! They are opaque and feel creamy to apply and then they dry down to a lovely matte texture. They do stay a little tacky at first but that does go away after about five minutes, so just be careful not to rub your lips together or you might ruin it a little. They are really long lasting, as you'd expect from a liquid lipstick. Serenity is a lovely brown toned pink and Ballet Slipper is a pretty peachy pink and is a new shade to the Hydra Matte collection. I will say though that Ballet Slipper isn't quite as opaque as Serenity and I had to use a little more product to get it totally streak free,

I also got two of the lipsticks in the shades Buttercup and Fairy Godmother. Buttercup is the perfect beige nude colour which actually looks really similar to YSL Beige Tribute lipstick! Fairy Godmother is a beautiful powder pink shade which looks a little deeper in colour in the bullet than it does once applied. The lipsticks themselves feel lovely and creamy, although they do apply quite sheer and it takes me a while to build up the colour to how I would like it, which I don't find ideal but I love the shades.

I really wish I'd tried a couple of the lip glosses too as I've heard lots about them!

Which products would you recommend from Gerard Cosmetics?

Currently Loving | Mauve Nails

I'm the type of person that when I find a product I love, I will reuse and reuse it until my next obsession comes along (and yep, I'm also that person that will repeat a song until I'm so sick of it I can't stand it anymore...). My first nail polish love was Essie Mademoiselle, a natural, manicure pink shade, which I went through countless bottles of, until I found Chanel Beige Rose, a gorgeous peachy pink which I wore for months on end. Although I do love my pinks (hell anyone that reads my blog or follows me on Instagram is bound to know that), I'd been on the lookout for a mauve coloured polish for a while and I found Sally Hansen Mauve Along, which is exactly the shade I was looking for.

Mauve Along is the prettiest shade, not too much purple and not too much mauve but the perfect balance of the two! It's also really opaque and you can get away with using just one coat. I love pairing it with Rimmel Disco Diva on an accent nail, which is a lovely rose gold colour glitter.

What's your favourite nail polish?

A Peek Inside My Muji Drawers | #1

I've had a good portion of my makeup collection stored into Muji drawers for a couple of years now and most of it was ordered into the standard 'foundation', 'blusher', 'lipstick' etc. categories, but it was looking a little messy so I decided to have a little reorganise! As I have lots of makeup with gorgeous packaging, it was only right to make each drawer into some sort of cute little display, (although the downside to that is now a lot of my makeup doesn't fit in and I'm definitely going to have to invest in a few more drawers...) That aside, I thought I'd do a What's In My Muji Drawers type of post and show you a few of my favourite items from each drawer. Little did I know that it was going to take me for-evahh to get through and I've had to split it up into a number of different posts, so here is the first installment!

In case anyone was interested, I bought my drawers direct from the Muji website and I have one drawer with a flip top lid (top drawer) which is really handy, especially if you have a couple bulky items that don't quite fit as it allows for a bit more room. And then I also have two sets of two drawers.

On the top I've popped my Guerlain Snowflake Meteorites as they are too big for the drawers but far too pretty to hide away!

Drawer Number One

Too Faced Love Flush Blush | Justify My Love

If there was an award for cutest blusher packaging to ever exist, this would win hands down (in my eyes anyway). I'm obsessed with the cutesy heart shaped compact, it's almost like the makeup you'd play with as a kid but on a whole other level (not to mention waaaay better quality). Justify My Love is a beautiful bright, barbie style pink which gives a lovely pink flush to the skin. If you couldn't tell, I l.o.v.e this blush. Plus bunnies. Bunnies win.

Too Faced | Boudoir Eyes Eyeshadow Palette

Surprise, another Too Faced product! I adore their packaging and it's even better when the products themselves are brilliant quality too, there hasn't been a Too Faced product that I've tried and not liked! Boudoir Eyes was the first item I'd bought from them and it's a gorgeous palette filled with lots of beautiful cool, purple tones. I love wearing this with my By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock!

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blushers | Topshop Good Girl Blush | Sigma For Cute Blush

No one needs any guesses for what my favourite blush colour is! My Etude House Cookie Blushers are too cute, although I think I kinda love the mini powder puffs they come with a teeny tiny bit more than the actual blush itself (cute things just get me!) One of my all time favourites is my Topshop blush in the shade Good Girl, it's the nicest powder pink shade!

Remember to keep an eye out for my next Muji Drawer post where I will take a little look through drawer number two!

12 Free Festive Winter Wallpapers!

After browsing Pinterest for a new Wintery wallpaper for my iPhone, I came across lots that I thought I would share that will see you right through the festive season. The Christmas colours red and green aren't really my thing, so naturally I went with more of a sparkly pink and icy blue theme! Admittedly some of them aren't particularly Wintery because I threw in a few that you could use all year round too, hope you like them!

Winter Wonders

Winter is officially in full swing, so I thought it was about time I shared some of my favourite products during these chilly (and seriously drizzly) Winter months!

The White Company | Winter Candle

After my beloved Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir candle ran out (sob), I took to The White Company to find a similar Wintery scented replacement. The White Company do actually sell a candle called Pomegranate which smells almost exactly the same as the Jo Malone version (except for half the price!) and whilst I was tempted to get that one, I decided on the Winter candle instead. It has notes of cinnamon, clove and fresh orange which smells gorgeous like you've just stepped into a Christmas log cabin! It has just the right amount of spice and is really warming - perfect for Winter time!

Guerlain | Snowflake Meteorites

Probably the most Wintery themed makeup product ever? The star product from Guerlain's holiday collection has to be the Flocons Enchantes Meteorites, which is lots of gorgeous shimmery pearls and handcrafted pearls shaped into little star/snowflake shapes and all packaged into a little snowglobe - adorable. I have already featured them on my blog but something as pretty as these just have to be featured again. (Full review here.)

Jurlique | Rose Hand Cream

I was lucky enough to be gifted lots of lovely things from Jurlique a month or so ago, and one product I've especially been loving is the Rose Hand Cream. I don't often use or need hand cream during the summer months, but when it comes to Winter time a good hand cream can become an essential! This one feels lovely and silky and soaks in quickly, plus the rose scent smells divine.

YSL | Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick | #10 Beige Tribute

When it comes to lip products, I definitely steer more towards all the nude shades, especially during Winter time. My favourite at the moment is Beige Tribute from YSL which is a lovely beige nude with a hint of cool toned pink. It's really wearable and classy, like a grown up nude shade! (Full review here.)

What are your Winter faves?

Christmas Gift Guide For Her

It's that time of year again when we're all bombarded with Christmas gift guides and wishlists on almost every blog possible, so in the hope that you're not quite sick of them yet, here's another!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

L-R: Prom Night, Drug Lord, Doll Parts
Limited Edition Christmas 2015
L-R: Drug Lord, Doll Parts
Swatches L-R: Prom Night, Doll Parts, Drug Lord, Doll Parts & Drug Lord Mixed

After all this hype about liquid lipsticks, I thought it was finally time I jumped on the bandwagon and tried some myself. I've had the Anastasia Beverly Hills and Kat Von D version on my wishlist for ages but they're so damn hard to get hold of in the UK! Luckily I managed to track down a few of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks after being persuaded by the gorgeous white and rose gold packaging for Christmas!

I bought two of the limited edition holiday lipsticks, in the shades Doll Parts and Drug Lord and I also got Prom Night which is a permanent shade. Doll Parts is a pretty brown toned pink, however when on my lips it does pull quite berry toned, I think the colour is really similar to Mac Soar. There's no other way to describe Drug Lord other than a chalk white, on it's own it looks so odd like you've experimented with a pot of tip-ex (lol). The reason I bought this one is because it's a great one to mix with other shade to create different colours, it looks so nice when mixed with Doll Parts! The last shade is Prom Night which is a super vibrant hot pink! All of the shades are so opaque and give a streak free application.

I love the applicator which is tilted so it makes it really easy to get a nice clean shape. They apply like a dream and feel so creamy and lovely but then they dry down pretty quickly into an ultra matte texture, which surprisingly doesn't feel drying or uncomfortable to wear during the day. What I found amazing was how long they lasted! I've worn this for a good eight hours and even eaten in-between and it's still looked pretty perfect, although a minor touch up was needed. They can be a bit of a pain to remove, but I guess it just proves how long lasting they are!

What are your favourite liquid lipsticks?

Recent Beauty Purchases

So I thought I was having a relatively restrained November, until I put all my new beauty purchases together and realised that actually that was very much not the case. Yup, I'm guilty of buying yet again more makeup! I would pinky promise that it won't ever happen again, but I would definitely end up breaking that promise and that just wouldn't be fair on any of us...

Becca | Shimmering Skin Perfector, Moonstone

I'd had this particular highlight on my wishlist for a while, and I can safely say I'm holding NikkieTutorials responsible for this one! She uses Moonstone a lot in her YouTube videos and it just looks so stunning and like the perfect shade for my skintone! It's a gorgeous pearly shade with a hint of pale gold to it and it is seriously pigmented so you really don't need to use much. I'm loving it so far and it's perfect for when I want something a little more intense than my usual go-to Mac Lightscapade.

Soap & Glory | One Heck Of A Blot, Primer

I spotted Soap & Glory's new primer in Boots whilst I was buying backups of a few things I use frequently (anyone else have to have backups?!). One Heck Of A Blot claims to be the 'secret to shine-free skin' and as I have an oily skintype it was something I needed to try out, plus everything was 3 for 2 so that basically made my decision for me! I've used this for the past week so far and I honestly think it's an amazing product, it really does help to mattify my skin and create a great base for foundation. It's become my new favourite!

Estee Lauder | Double Wear, Foundation

I had previously sworn off this foundation for the fact that it is super full coverage and can be pretty cakey if you wear too much. However, since getting a new job where I knew I wouldn't be able to just whip my compact powder out and blot my face whenever I wanted, I needed something that would last during the entire day. Double Wear is the only foundation that I can wear that will genuinely last all day and still look presentable even when I haven't had a chance to touch up or powder my face! I only apply it in small amounts, and blend it using the Real Techniques Sponge so that it looks seamless and not too much. It's basically flawless skin in a bottle, but hey I'm pretty late to the bandwagon so you're probably very much aware!

Nars | Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

This one is actually a much needed repurchase! I'd had my previous tube of this miracle stuff for almost a year, which is pretty amazing but it was finally time to buy another! This Nars eyeshadow primer is the only primer I've tried which actually keeps my eyeshadow intact and creaseless all day. If you've not tried this one, I'd highly recommend that you do! Full review here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Illuminator, Starlight

And lastly, the star product, being one of Anastasia Beverly Hills new Illuminators in the shade Starlight. Once I'd heard about these new releases (and seen them about a million times on Instagram) I instantly joined in on the fangirling. I was all heart-eyed over Starlight, but it had been sold out online for a while so when I saw it was back in stock on Cult Beauty I quickly nabbed it! I adore the gorgeous textured design of the highlight and it's such a pretty frosty, ivory shade which looks beautiful on pale skintones.

What do you think of my purchases?

Guerlain Meteorites Flocons Enchantes (Enchanted Snowflakes)

My October makeup spending ban is officially over, (thank the lord) and my boyfriend scored major points by treating me to none other than the prettiest Limited Edition Meteorites from Guerlain! As part of their 2015 holiday collection, Guerlain released a special version of their ever popular Meterorites, titled the Flocons Enchantes that I believe translates to 'Enchanted Snowflakes' which has just gotta be the dreamiest name going!

They contain the same gorgeous pearls as the usual Meteorites, but have also got the addition of adorable little iridescent pearls, crafted to look like snowflakes (if ever there was a time for the heart eyed emoji, it would be now). Swirled together and dusted over your face, the meteorites give you a gorgeous luminosity, perfect for giving a subtle glow to dull, Winter skin.

The pearls and snowflakes are housed in stunning white and gold packaging which looks like a little snowglobe! It one of those products that you really need to see in real life to capture just how beautiful the whole product and packaging is. And the cherry on the top; it also comes with a fluffy powder puff with a pretty gold bow and can be used to apply the product if you wish!

It's basically Christmas wrapped up in the most luxurious looking snowglobe, and I'm so glad I'm managed to get my hands on it! Priced at £50, they definitely aren't the most affordable but I think they make for the most perfect, special gift this Christmas!

What do you think?

YSL Lipstick | Rouge Volupte #7 Lingerie Pink & Rouge Pur Couture #10 Beige Tribute

YSL Rouge Pur Couture #10 Beige Tribute

YSL Rouge Volupte #7 Lingerie Pink

Swatches: Top - #10 Beige Tribute, Bottom - #7 Lingerie Pink
Wearing No.1 Beige Tribute
These two lipsticks mark the last of my makeup purchases before my October makeup spending ban (which I have kept up might I add), and my god aren't they just the dreamiest! I originally intended to only purchase the YSL Rouge Pur Couture in No.10 Beige Tribute as I'd been eyeing it up for a while, but when I got to the counter I had a mini 'oh screw it' moment and daringly bought a Rouge Volupte in No.7 Lingerie Pink aswell (those moments make me very very poor).

Beige Tribute is one of those must-have nude shades! It's a gorgeous cool toned, pinky beige which is so wearable on my skintone and doesn't wash me out at all. As a Rouge Pur Couture, it glides across the lips and has great pigmentation, the formula is lovely and creamy yet it still seems to stick around for a fair amount of time.

Lingerie Pink is one that I've been lusting after every since I started reading beauty blogs about 4 years ago. It is a gorgeous milky, candy pink shade which can look a bit barbie-esque if you apply too much, but when you pop a little bit on paired with a darker lip liner, it looks so pretty and girly! The Rouge Volupte's are just as pigmented as the Rouge Pur Couture, both swatches are just one swipe! This one applies like silk and feels like a dream to wear, although because of this it's not quite as long lasting on the lips as Beige Tribute!

Both are housed in the most gorgeous and classy gold packaging, that will look just beautiful sat on your dressing table. I can't choose which design I prefer!

What's your favourite YSL lipstick?

Too Faced Splurge | Natural Eyes Palette, Love Flush Blush & Better Than Sex Mascara

Too Faced is one of my all time favourite brands, not only is the packaging always so insanely cute but the quality of their products is brilliant and I know I'm going to get my money's worth. The only problem for me is that trying to track down a counter in the UK can prove bloody hard work. I know it's available to buy online but it's just not the same as being able to see it and swatch it all in real life! So when I finally found a new counter in my local Debenhams store back at the start of September, I basically had a mini fit. No joke, I put the other makeup products I was thinking about buying straight down, and practically ran over to it like the little makeup geek I am.

Too Faced | Natural Eyes Eyeshadow Palette
I of course had to purchase this palette! I'd been lusting after it for the longest time and it just looked like the perfect neutral daytime palette. It has the prettiest mix of soft shades, and I have not stopped using it since I bought it. The shadows are really pigmented and easy to blend, and dare I say it but I actually love it more than my Urban Decay Naked Palette! I love wearing Silk Teddy all over the lid with Nudie in the crease and for extra definition Push-Up on the outer half of my lid and Cashmere Bunny in the crease. Heaven also makes for the perfect matte eyebrow bone highlight too, which I'm so pleased about as my Mac Blanc Type was wearing extremely thin.

Too Faced | Better Than Sex Mascara
Another Too Faced product that everyone raves about! It's supposed to be one of those miracle mascaras that does it all; curl, volume, length and definition so I had to pick it up to see what all this fuss was about. Plus the packaing is pretty and pink and yes, that also swayed my decision! I haven't yet tried this one out as I'm waiting for my favourite Benefit Roller Lash to finish. The name is kind of controversial but if I like it I'm sure you'll be seeing more of it on here and over on my Instagram!

Too Faced | Love Flush Blush
As soon as I heard about the new blush releases from Too Faced I was dying to get my hands on at least one. Can we just talk about the packaging here?! I know I may seem about 5 years old but I a-d-o-r-e the heart shaped compact so much, it's looks like a little Polly Pocket! Not to mention the super cute bunny print on the inside, my heart literally can't cope with all the cuteness! Fangirling aside, I bought the shade Justify My Love, which is a beautiful deep pink with subtle shimmer. This stuff is seriously pigmented, so you don't need to use a lot of it (which is also great because it means you can keep those adorable bunnies around for longer). To put it shortly; I need them all.

What are you lusting after from Too Faced?

The Perfect Pamper Evening

I'll admit it, I do love a good pamper evening and I indulge in them probably more than I should (oopsie!) So this blog post is dedicated to my idea of the perfect pamper evening!

Candles, Candles, Candles
There's nothing better than lighting some of your favourite candles to get you in a relaxed mood. Not only do they smell amazing but give your room a cosy, dimly lit atmosphere, which is also extra special in the Winter time!

Take a Bath
Baths are literally one of my favourite things to do, I could never live in a place that doesn't have a bath as I find that taking a soak in the bath really chills me out. A perfect bubble bath isn't complete without lots of bath bomb goodies to pop in and make your bath extra bubbly and smelling delish. I am also definitely one of those people that risks bringing my phone in with me so I can watch a few youtube videos or have a scroll through Instagram and Twitter. To go that extra step you could smooth on a face mask and let it work it's magic whilst you're unwinding in the bath.

Clean Pjs & Fresh Bedding
Nothing makes me feel cosier and cleaner than putting on new pjs and snuggling up in a freshly made bed straight after a hot bubble bath!

Paint Your Nails
Having nice shiny painted nails is one of the best pick me ups and as I don't always have the time to do my nails, I like to take full advantage of the times I do! My favourite polishes are basically every nude pink shade going from Essie and I also adore my Chanel nail varnish in Beige Rose. On the right photo I painted them with a nude base colour and then OPI Princess's Rule over the top!

Netflix Snacks
Obviously for any pamper night, Netflix is a given so pick a film or a series and have a little Netflix binge! Currently me and my boyfriend are obsessed with Prison Break and I also love reliving my teens with epsiodes of Charmed every now and then (yep I was that weird girl at school that fangirled over Buffy and Charmed).
Now of course you can't have a Netflix sesh without the snacks can you! Some of your favourite indulgent treats make for great TV companions, a little pizza, ice cream and hot chocolate once in a while never hurt anyone...right?

Read A Book
Sometimes the best thing to do when pampering yourself is to read a magazine or a book. Take your mind from any current worries and focus on a fictional world instead! If I find a book I really enjoy reading, I can read and read and before I know it, hours have passed! A few of my favourite books are The Time Travellers Wife, Delirium, Before I Fall and The Hunger Games Trilogy.

Braid Your Hair
When having a pamper evening, sometimes I like to just get all my hair off my face (having super long hair can also be a burden). Braids will not only do that for you, but also look super cute at the same time, and they are gentle on your scalp too. It's also a great time to be able to get a bit of practice in of those braids you've always wondered how to do! Here's a link to a tutorial I did for the braid pictured.

What do you like to do for a pamper evening?
