Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

After being disappointed by countless drugstore foundations, I decided that what my pesky oily skin really needed was a high-end foundation. This prospect did seem a little daunting at first, I mean what if I spend loads of money on a foundation that I could end up also being disappointed by? So after reading countless blog reviews, I decided that I wanted to purchase the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation.

I was matched to Rose Ivory which matches my skin tone perfectly, it is a creme formula and blends in really easily. I used the Real Techniques buffing brush to apply it which I feel works perfectly with it, not to mention that it also smells really nice! The back of the tube does recommend using a sponge to apply this, although I am yet to try this out.

The lady at the counter told me it was a full coverage foundation, however I would say it's more of a medium coverage that can be built up to a full coverage. You really don't need a lot with this foundation to get a good amount of coverage, and I think if you do want a more full coverage it's best to work this up in thin layers.

It covers imperfections and redness beautifully and doesn't make me feel like I'm wearing a mask. It is supposed to be a matte foundation which is what I need for my oily skin, however it has a luminous finish to it which doesn't make you look flat or cakey and gives a gorgeous radiant glow but without the dewiness. It seems to glide over my skin giving it a really perfect natural look to it that doesn't scream *I'm wearing a ton of foundation* and more *I have naturally flawless skin, so what?*

The longevity of this foundation is where it fails for me, as I have oily skin I do find that foundations don't always last on me till the end of the day and this one tends to do the same. As the day goes on it breaks down and my face gets quite shiny, even with powder touch ups. I have heard from others with dry skin that they find it pretty dry and mattifying, so I think this would probably look the best for those with normal skin!

I love the packaging of this product, personally I feel like it looks sophisticated but durable, easy to wipe clean and perfect for squeezing out as much or as little as you would like. This also means you'd be able to squeeze out every last drop making sure you get every pennies worth!

At £33 I was a little hesitant to purchase this, I loveeee the flawless finish it gives but I just wish it lasted longer on my skin! Think I'll be saving this one for days when my skins is perhaps a little dehydrated.

Have you tried this foundation?
xoxo

  4. This has been top of my list to get since starting my blog in April after reading all reviews, had planned to buy it tomorrow when I got payed for weeks now but typically came across a bad review of it today stating it clung to every dry patch and was flaky. And with the price now I don't know what to do! But your review great really making me want it now. Great blog just followed xx
